Lucy earned her BS in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental biology from UC Santa Cruz, working in the lab of John Tamkun to study in interaction of chromatin remodeler interaction in Drosophila. After graduation she moved to Ithaca, New York to pursue a PhD in Biophysics from Cornell University in the lab of Michell Wang. Using optical trapping as a technique she studied the physical mechanism underlying nucleosome inheritance during DNA replication. As a joint post-doc between the Al-Sady and Redding groups, Lucy will be focusing on heterochromatin dynamics and structure at the single molecule level.
